The street children mostly those in teens are in high risk of getting infected with the disease because both boys and girls have multiple partners.
Awareness about the spreading the infection and its impacts is necessary. Even in our research study, we have found that 94% of the interviewed street children don’t have proper information about this disease.
With the help of the medical professionals, we organized HIV/AIDS awareness session for the street children aged 13 years and above. In this session, the children were given the basic information about the HIV/AIDS, how it spreads, what precautions they should take and what are the services available in public health sectors.

Focusing on the rapport building with the children and giving some enjoyment as well as some education and sharing, we organized picnics with the street children from Dadar and Borivali station at the places like National Park,
These Picnics framed to be time for the relaxation. We urged them to share their experiences and problems. In this session clearly brought from them the need for night shelter. They emphasized that some still trap along with educational inputs must for them since it would help them to get employment. They also expect a regular follow up from the NGOs which support them time to time.
Non Formal Education meets short term learning needs of individuals and communities. It therefore emphasises learning of specific knowledge, skills and inculcation of specific attitudes
