The number of street children is growing rapidly. According to research study, nearly 2 lac children are on the street of Mumbai and its suburbs. The past study ‘Situational Analysis of Street Children’ done by Hajal D’lima and Rima Gosaliya as well as Survey ‘Waiting For Tomorrow, Survey of Street Children’ stated that 48% street children live on footpath, 16.1% on Railway Platforms, Railway bridge or nearby railway station and rest of the street children stay in theaters and temples. 73.2% street children are below 15 years. 71.3% street children are working, 36.8% do coolie work, Sweeping and goods selling, 15.4% are Child Labour, 9.6% are working in Hotels, Garment and garage and rest are begging.
SAMBHAV FOUNDATION considers following four categories as street children.
i. Children up to 18 years of age who work / live on the street day and night without their family
ii. Children up to 18 years of age who work / live on the street with their family.
iii. Children up to 18 years of age who work on the street and return to their family.
iv. Children up to 18 years of age who work on the street and return to other family.
They are victims of the problems that our society faces. They do not choose to live on the street, but the situation, such as deprived household, family strives, and the intense rural–urban migration force them to live on the street. Thus, not only in terms of poverty and basic needs, but also in terms of the manifold social, physical and sexual abuse they face in their daily lives, the street children remain the most vulnerable group and pose a serious challenge to the country’s development.
SAMBHAV FOUNDATION is concern about the same issue and having a goal to empowering the street children by fulfilling their not all but at least some necessary needs like education and survival needs.
SAMBHAV FOUNDATION is going to undertake the process that is going to organize as a non-profit social organization to deliver contemporary and cutting edge strategies and services for the chosen target group i.e. street children.
There is total negligence by the society about this issue while we say that the children are future of our country. We need to change this attitude of the society so that these children will get their rights. This change will be by both ways i.e. Awareness in he people and children as well. Everybody should know what child rights are and what they can do to preserve those. SAMBHAV FOUNDATION is going to make this awareness in the society, so to make Child Friendly Society.

i. To reach out to the street children in selected areas of Mumbai and suburbs.
ii. Identify and utilize/provide support services according to the needs of the street children.
iii. Equip children with the necessary knowledge to become selfactive. Develop a system for refferal between government and non-governmental support agencies, formal and non-formal sectors at service delivery through netwroking.
iv. Develop necessary policy recommendations and advocacy and create awareness among the masses.
SAMBHAV FOUNDATION has enlisted the following activities to undertake in its future plan for Transformation and Empowerment the street children.
